Costco Shoppers

With 19 kids, the Duggars buy in bulk whenever possible. Now that Josh and Anna live in Washington D.C., they have access to Costco and have become members. Does your family buy in bulk? If so, where do you shop? Costco? Sam's Club? Aldi?

My family shops at Costco all the time, especially for milk and bread. Buying in bulk is a good thing in today's economy because it means less trips to the store for items that are bought on a regular basis, except for milk and bread (even though they can be frozen and saved for later).

My family mostly goes to both Sam's Club and Aldi

yes! Sam's & Aldi :)

We do our bulk shopping at Sam's Club. :-)

We used to shop at Costco, but I found that we frequently went over budget on food and that we were more tempted to eat a lot of their speciality foods.

We currently use WinCo (which has a great bulk section for grains, beans, etc...) and get some stuff from WalMart.

However, we are re-considering Costco for the near future.

Yes - sometimes :) we buy things like rice and flour in bulk.

Costco! BJ's only when necessary.

We "only" have four children and Costco is our main grocery store, plus a little bit at Sam's Club and Smart & Final, who's slogan is "the smaller faster warehouse store".

Mackynzie looks a lot like Anna

I have 18 children. There is nothing on TV about our family , and we shop @ Costco to. This not news folks. Dont own a TV and homeschooltoo.

The Duggars are really wise with their money. I hope I can learn to be like them when I grow up and have a family. I am currently in uni and already have the daunting student debt. Hopefully will be able to pay it off soon through summer and casual work in the semester.

We're Costco shoppers! Love that store...Although it's easy for me to go over budget on groceries there, because we love most ALL of their products! Great store.

Why does the caption say "with 19 kids"? They have 6 kids that are adults with 5 as live in help and stay-at-home daughters. So shouldn't they say "with 13 children, even though they are wealthy from a tv show (even though they don't approve of their kids watching tv) they still shop in bulk. Breaking news.

Speaking of tv money, I think JimBob pockets all profits except Josh. Not cool.

Costco.

why dont the duggars have a garden. josh and anna should have one. costco is good for many items like milk egg and gas not paper goods. cereal and other items you can do better at aldi or target. they also should cosnider buying a half of cow. the duggars need to have cows and chicken on farm so they can save on milk and eggs also.

What precious gifts from God! Michael looks like Josh and Anna and Kynzie looks exactly like Anna! They're growing up so fast! We used to have a membership to Sam's club, but we switched to Costco!

Marcus is just a little prince! He looks just like josh and Anna! I can see a little bit of Kynzie and Michael in his face also! What a precious family!;)

Not all big families can be on tv. Dont downgrade them because they were chosen.

Anonymous said...

You have no proof of that. Some kids stay with parents until they marry. That is how it was in past.

Anonymous said...

Not everyone gardens. They reciently started to do some growing. Big families should not be judged for not owning a farm.

To everybody that is asking if shopping at Costco is news... Blogs don't always have BREAKING NEWS PEOPLE, get that in your head. If you don;t like reading "boring stuff", then you can quit checking it. Get over it!!!

I was looking on Amason. And, the one with Marcas delivery is sold out. Can somebody re-upload it ?

I watched the Duggars for many years but lately I just think that their shows are boring. They seem a bit more worldly too shorter skirts (knees showing! ;) ) which I thought was a no no in an older episode where Jim Bob was talking about above the knee being as nakedness. Stuff like that (when people don't practice what they preach) drives me nuts so needless to say I font watch them anymore...they should've kept the Bates on tv....oh & I'm only on this blog to see if anyone replied yo my DD post. ;)

The Duggars are always traveling so they don't have the time to tend to field animals and gardens. Of course, the childern will attempt a garden when they are home but it falls to the wayside, unfortunately.

News: Zach Bates is courting a young woman named Whitney.

Thanks for the information; it is always fun to learn about what's happening in the lives of people one cares about. Certainly it isn't news -- this being a blog not a newspaper :) It is like a letter from a friend, chatty and sharing. Good work Lily and Ellie

I shop at Aldi and Walmart. I stop at Publix for the "buy one get one free" items, which means 50% off. I also drop by Kroger occasionally to see if there are any "manager's specials." I find the Kroger flyers to be too busy and hard to follow, so stay away from there except for the manager's specials! My family isn't large enough to benefit from
Costco or Sam's.

I think Mackynzie looks a lot like Anna in this picture!

Gasp knees showing!? What's next walking around naked? If they want to wear that let them. Its their body therfore their choice. Yes Jim Bob said that but the girls were younger then. They can now think for themselves. Jim bob and Michlle made the choice for the girls to dress a certain way when they were younger it doesn't necessarily dictate what they will wear for the rest of their lives. They'll most likey stay modest but there are differnt ways to be modest.

no one is judging anyone. they have a lot of land let them use it.

Good for Anna and Josh; albeit their shopping haunts are not that interesting to me. I shop at Costco-who cares. However, if JB and Michelle shopped at Costso, I would love to see their receipt!!!

To anonymous @ 4:27
The Jim Bob Duggars DO garden, but the Josh Duggars probably don't have much space in DC.

It seems like you see a difference between judging people and merely telling them what to do? That is too fine a point for me to see. When I read these posts that say that the Duggars are doing something wrong or should be doing some other thing, it sounds like a judgement (whether or not is intended as one).

One of the things I most respect about Michelle is that I have never heard her say a negitive thing about anyone. She certainly shares what she stands for but without putting the other person down

We live in Arkansas too. The area the Duggars live in has a lot of red clay and it's very difficult to grow things there.

I have a Costco membership only for the savings on car insurance and pharmacy. I find better deals using coupons and sales at grocery stores. Do Josh and Anna need that much bulk with 2 adults, 2 toddlers and a baby? I also feed a family of 5 and find that Costco bulk goes bad before we could use it all and it more expensive then the grocery store(though those Costco muffins and other bakery items are sure tempting but 650 calories for 1 muffin is a lot!)

Costco is a wonderful store. Their produce is fresher than SAMS and they carry a larger variety of specialty items like cheeses, seafood, and freshly prepared things. I always have a list for SAMS and Costco, but I prefer Costco. I am glad Josh and Anna are out doing things in DC and making their way as a family. God has plans for each one of us and I am glad that the Duggars have let us in on their lives.

I hate shopping at Costco! the lines are like black Friday everyday. Over 100 people waiting at the door when it opens. So I shop at regular stores that open a little early before the Canadians come down. I can buy a lot of things at a better price elsewhere. Except baby carrots, peanut butter and a few frozen products. The only reason I go is if I need tortillas.

@Anonymous I know, right? Big deal, they shop at Costco! A lot of people do!

Our little family of two has a Costco membership. We don't buy a lot of things there, mostly shelf-stable staples like oil, flour, salt, butter (which we either freeze or clarify), etc. Pretty much anything else goes bad before we can use it all. We also get things like batteries and water filters there. It saves a lot of money in the long-run.

Anonymous said...

We shop Costco. There are certain things we buy there, and we don't shop impulsively for stuff we'll never use. There may not be many things they need in bulk, but milk, bread and salad are worthwhile. Laundry detergent, a few other things. When we didn't have a garage and the kids were small, we didn't buy in bulk

Just cause someone else has a big family doesn't mean they have to hate on others who are on tv. I don't think it is assumed that they are the only big family.

Probably not honest comments anyhow...

Thanks for taking the time to keep up this blog. Day to day life isn't always exciting, and usually looking at blogs is just a past time and relating to others in some way.

I shopped Aldi and Walmart when I had my other 3 of my four children at home we shopped at Sam's there was not a Costco here at the time in our area, would love to be able to shop Costco and maybe divide the bigger amounts but so many times couponing you get good deals and you can't do that at Costco
