My name is Charity and it means "LOVE" my dad was reading 2 Corinthians 13 the great love chapter when i was Born and that is how my parents came about that name.
I think some of the meanings are a bit of a stretch. For example: Jackson means son of Jack. Jack is the diminutive of John, and John means God is Gracious. But it's three steps removed from the actual name: Jackson.
Or Jessa: the diminutive of Jessica, which comes from the name Iscah, which means "to behold". Again, it's three steps removed from the actual name though.
Josie has to go back three times as well: Josie is short for Josephine, which is the female version of Joseph which means "God will add"

MacKenzie, in the Scottish form, means son of Coinneach (Scottish version of Kenneth). Coinneach comes from the Scots gaelic word 'caoin' meaning handsome. Technically then, MacKenzie means son of the handsome one.

I wanted 26 I started with the letter c because of 2 losses before him. I only got to H. I had 10 losses 1 2nd trimester loss. To much on the brain. I hope my boys will continue the alphabet. Not likely though.
I never heard Michelle and Jim Bob mention that they named the baby they miscarried between Josh and Jana and John David. I wonder if that was a 2nd trimester loss like Jubilee or an early 1st trimester loss? Did they have to bury him? How did they know he was a boy? I'm just curious because I have followed the Duggars from the beginning of their tv career when it started with "14 Kids and Counting" and have read their books, etc and have never heard them mention naming the 1st baby they miscarried. I just took it as it was an early loss at maybe 6-8wks or so. Does anyone have more information on this?

My name is Rebekah, and most places will say it means "tied knot" or "snare." However, when I did some extensive research on it, it specifically refers to a knot in a rope meant that was tied to animals. The name is a reference to the fact that those knots were practically unbreakable by the animal, therefore a more accurate definition/meaning would be "steadfast" or "unbreakable." I personally like the "steadfast" meaning best. :-)
I think that it's so cool how you put so much thought into your children's names! My name is Madeleine which derives from the name Magdalena. It means 'woman from Magdala' but my parents really meant to name me Madeline after the stories! They had a little mix up with the spelling and pronunciation.
