"Duggar Daddy on Duty" Recap

On last night's episode of 19 Kids and Counting...
  • Michelle and Jinger took Josie to the pediatrician for her well-baby checkup. Developmentally, Josie is thriving, but she caught the virus that made its way through the Duggar household. "Even though we were trying diligently to wash our hands and keep anyone out of the room, she manage to get it," explained Michelle. The doctor put Mommy's fears to rest when he assured her that Josie would be as good as new in no time.
  • The Duggars are known for their big heads, and Josie's is no exception.
  • Clear the roads! Josiah recently turned 14, the magical age that every kid in Arkansas eagerly awaits. Why? Because they can learn to drive! He studied like crazy and passed the written exam on his first try, so Jim Bob took him out on the road to put his knowledge to the test. Josiah is too short to see over the dash of the 16-passenger van, but Jim Bob came prepared with a pillow. Josiah did great, but he jokingly accused his dad of being a backseat driver.
  • While Jana and Jill took the kids grape-picking and Michelle accompanied Jinger and Jessa to the dentist, Jim Bob babysat Jordyn and Josie. The highlights of the morning included Lincoln Logs and watching Jordyn give kisses to her baby sister. He did a fabulous job. "It's like Mr. Mom stepping in," said Michelle. "The kids love Daddy."
Do you remember learning to drive?

  1. I watched last night...really enjoyed it. Congrats on the new grandbaby coming. I was wondering if you ever write anything personal? Or are most entries based on the show? Would love to hear about your child rearing ways! :) Micah

  2. Yes, I definitely remember learning to drive, it was only a little less than five years ago. Quite an adventure. Still too terrified of parallel parking to go for my road test, so I mostly take the bus, bike, walk or get my dad to play dad's taxi :P. On another note, I usually buy the episodes off of itunes, but they don't seem to have the Grandduggar first birthday special up. Does anyone know what website I can either buy or view it on? I'm in canada, and sometimes things that are available in the states aren't available for me. Thanks :)

  3. I am still learning to drive and I am twenty three. I am going to be able to drive one of these days but I am taking it slow so I am really ready to drive.

  4. I have not yet been able to find the Grandduggar First Birthday episode online, but I will let you know when I do. Does anyone else know where to purchase it?
    Thanks for reading the blog!

  5. I would LOVE to learn to drive! I'm 14 as well, but here in New Zealand the age is 15, and they are going to change it to 16 soon.... =(

  6. I like to buy them at Amazon, but they do not have GrandDuggar First Birthday OR Duggar Daddy on Duty there yet and they usually have (Duggar Daddy on Duty) on around noon on Weds. Maybe since there is another special coming out this weekend they are waiting to put them out together?!? Just an idea. Let me know what you think. I hope they won't stop putting them on Amazon. It is great to own them! :)

  7. Does anyone know if there will be any 19 Kids and Counting episodes after November 30? I have been looking on Wikipedia and there is only one until Nov. 30. I hope they will play some new ones during Thanksgiving and Christmas! That would be fun to see how they cook Thanksgiving/Christmas meals for their family! :)

  8. Micah,
Did you listen to our recnet interview with Michelle Duggar? She talks a lot about their child-rearing ways. Here's the link for the interview: http://toginet.com/podcasts/livingthedreammom/LivingTheDreamMomLIVE_2010-10-28.mp3?type=showpage

    Hope you enjoy it!

  9. "Duggar Daddy on Duty" is now on Itunes, but they do not yet have "GrandDuggar First Birthday." And you guessed right! There IS another hour-long "19 Kids and Counting" this Sunday at 7/8PM CST. It's called "Duggars Make a Movie."

  10. TLC announces each episode just two weeks before it airs, so that's why Wikipedia only lists the shows through November 30th.
    Thanks for the question!
